Both myself and DDK have made videos from the EQL16 Div 1 Final between tVS and SD played on 10th June 2013 - his are quality as we all know, with his good insight into the game, mine I think the commentary is good too, I've made to look nice to make the game appealing to newbies, and I've done a lot of post-production work to fix autotrack errors and add in replays of important moments after the games. tVS: Milton, Ihminen, Diki, Xantom -sd-: carapace, bps, rst, ganon I may or may not have added bogus links on the end to prevent spoilers of knowing some results from knowing how many rounds were played! edit: here's a playlist to play all rounds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubzrWksnw_Y&list=PLi4a4YIJFjy_Qnrd57cklGmBQQJd8-6Wedarff's vids, with mostly live recorded commentary from darff/votary/od and post-game slow-mo replays of important action for some maps: Round 1, dm3 / Game SummaryRound 2, dm2Round 3, e1m2Round 4 / Game SummaryRound 5ddk's vids, commentary from ddk with demo pauses at start for analysis: Round 1, dm3Round 2, dm2Round 3, e1m2Round 4Round 5(Edited 2013-06-21, 14:52)

I love the slow-mo replays at the end, they really tie 20 minutes of chaos together! It also gives a very serious and professional feeling. Your extracurricular activities are not in vain! carrier has arrived - twitch.tv/carapace_

For posterity, and future video makers, here's how I made these movies:
1) Recorded the TS3 commentary from the Tools menu - round 1 audio was messed up, I think due to having mumble open too 2) Fresh nquake install from www.nquake.com 3) Downloaded Jissse's lits 'n' shit pack: http://www.quakeworld.nu/forum/topic/6087/qw-textures-models-lit-shit-pack 4) Modified hud / cfg: http://www19.zippyshare.com/v/1648938/file.html 5) Downloaded & installed Fraps (I tried demo_capture but even though my machine is capable of HD video editing, it can't demo_capture smoothly or it takes ages) 6) Fraps settings: 60fps, Half-size (could probably record at 30fps to save space) 7) Played the demo, capturing with Fraps (about 40GB per game) - capture to non-OS/non-game drive to avoid lags 8) Mixed with audio & edited in Adobe Premiere Pro CS 5.5* - including scaling up the footage to fit the 1280x720 resolution - so its not *real* HD 9) Exported at 1280x720 resolution, 30fps, 10kbps bitrate (though rounds 2 and 3 were 60fps, 24kbps), H.264 codec (changing some of these settings increased encode time by 10x - with these settings encoding took 2x real time- ~45min) 10) Uploaded to YouTube after verifying account to get longer upload capability
* note the editing stage took ages because I'm a perfectionist - I actually went back to the demo and recorded different POVs for important moments & when quad/pent pickups happen, to prevent the autotrack switching around in a confusing way like it does sometimes, and to capture as much important action as I could. Also had to edit a lot of the commentary to make sure it fit with the video, as I had qtv_adjustbuffer 0.5 set - think this (and/or qtv_buffertime) should be 0 when casting or you gradually lag behind.
* hud-only export, of version that was slightly modified for later movies: http://www38.zippyshare.com/v/14930707/file.html

I guess switching to fraps is the only solution as ezquake demo capture is really broken if you try more than one minute, and the quality is quite good ( even if youtube always fucks it up ), althought you should try a fresh ezquake install instead of nquake, you're missing models and some stuff from my pack because of nquake broken pk3s. I really hope I'll find a home and a new computer this summer so I can give you a hand on video making and commentary, it's really cool to see that happening again. Edit: your link to ddk's round 5 is wrong, it's an old dm3 video of him.

OK have finished uploading all rounds. Next video is currently uploading - its a 4 way multitrack demo with voice comms as audio, taken from div2 wednesdays last week. For a couple of the guys it was the first time using voice comms, so it's more an experiment than like a showcase, but worth a watch anyway, there are plenty of funny moments and it's cool at the end when someone says he loves teamspeak, he's never done it before in quake. Anyways that'll be on another thread!

Guess I've been taking good ideas from QW and applying them to the other game I play - ultimate frisbee... e.g. inspired by Salvation, I started a draft league for ultimate players last summer & am running it again this summer: http://budl.webs.com/
About time I brought more ideas to QW from frisbee to restore the balance!
