Greetings folks,
I have to admit something that's really been bothering me. I've been missing this game so much, you cannot believe. After I've won the Pro Tournament I decided to stop playing QW. I decided to start playing Starcraft 2.
I really want to return to playing QW. Is there still a reason to be coming back? Are there any peope playing it?
What about LANs. Anything coming up?
Yours truly,

Argh, i had written a lenghty reply to this which featured pretty much a resume of the last year or so and then i pressed the wrong button and it went poff gone! Instead i suggest you go browse the news from the last half year or so, then you'll see what tournaments there are (EQL 4on4, Salcation draft 4on4, Thunderdome 1on1, QWEnya 1on1, Besmella 1on1) and what LAN's (the Hungarian LAN) there are. Unfortunately no QHLAN.

A QHLAN would be ideal... who used to run these?

A QHLAN would be ideal... who used to run these? If i recall correctly the organisation was "Stockholm LAN Association" including but not limited to Lornelin, Peppe, Stroller etc. www.facebook.com/QuakeWorld

man I'm also missing that shit so much lately.
QW is dead in Brazil. Lots of empty servers.
at least I'm having some fun at quakelive.com sometimes, there are a few brazilians there. But still QW is unbeatable.
Today people are so dispersed to other games that I hardly believe that QW will be back one day.
from time to time I look for some US servers to have a duel (unfortunately 150ms).

netQuake in the US is dead too.
There's just not enough newbs. When someone from the past jumps on a server, players play 120% and they just want a weekend game to get back into it. But they get frustrated and never return. Ambiguity makes new games fun. GFX are only for the 1st hour, but if they cannot feed the ego there's no reason to play.
Best way to get more players is to redo the game. I dont mean change gameplay or physics, but maybe sidestep with totally new maps or gfx. Take Xonotic for example.
Hell QuakeLive is q3 redone but somehow has more players now...
if its new to all then maybe there's a chance more will play. or else its just leets stomping newbs for 1 day.
