iam sitting on a gf6800le and i keep getting these drops from 77 down to stable 76 then 74, thats how it goes mostly.. now i think that must be bc of drivers. So what drivers do you use?

I also have a Geforce 6800LE, I have experienced these fps drops IF I have my webbrowser on when playing quake, however if I turn it off I got stable 77 fps and with cl_maxfps 0 I have about 500 fps (on personal server ofc)
I used the forceware from nVIDIA before but Ive changed now to an omega driver, you could try them

Usually there are sites (mostly ones containing flash) that hogs cputime in Firefox. You can easily spot it if you press ctrl-alt-del and look at the CPU use for the processes. If firefox has a troublesome page open it usually has a steady CPU usage of at least 5-20% sometimes more. For some reason it bugs the hell out of qw and you get a noticable decrease in video performance although the CPU doesn't look extremely busy.

3. suck both and never get the same feeling with server enabled high fps http://slip.4.pl/ - unblocking myspace facebook firewall

sure you don't since it's not what it's meant for still, it gives VERY smooth game when stable fps==Hz 154/154 for ex., and is good for your eyes

Nope, it doesn't give a smooth feeling, that's the point. It feels a lot more choppy than using 60 fps/60 Hz configuration. http://slip.4.pl/ - unblocking myspace facebook firewall

Tweak your Windows XP services. Most often these background processes interrupt your CPU and create these hiccups. See my Quakeworld setup thread for details. http://quakeworld.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1023

However I notice some jitter in the framerate (very fast tearing I guess), especially going around corners and other vertical contrasted structures. Guess I'm spoiled comming from vsynch where everything is always smooth as silke. Regards, PaRadiZer

err, you'd have(!) to get 77 fps at least with 132hz man :/ Immy I'm filling you in, just server-admins and well, whole community doesn't

phys fps? just max_fps 77 :/

phys fps? just max_fps 77 :/ In EzQuake, when you enable independent physics, you use "cl_physfps" to define the in-game framerate which is independent of cl_maxfps. So in my case I've set cl_physfps to 66 and cl_maxfps to 500 (just to be on the safe side). I found that when cl_physfps is exactly half the display refresh the jitter/irregular framerate is minimal although not as smooth as using vsynch. Since there are claims that using vsynch introduces input lag on mouse inputs I though maybe that's why I royally suck in midair, even at 8ms lag, so I've dicided to try without it for a while. :-) Regards, PaRadiZer

try that:
independentphysics 1, maxfps 0, vid_displayfrequency 150, nolerp 0, physfps 0
drivers: NGO 91.47 (6600GT) -> http://www.ngohq.com
