So, finally got my second monitor set up and working, but whenever I open QW, the other monitor turns insanely bright. The reason I got this setup is to be able to play/commentate while reading stream chat and answering questions but the monitor really gets too bright to even read.
This does not happen with any other game, fullscreen or not, only QW.
I use EzQuake 2.1 (should probably update that...)
Any ideas?

Update: I found gl_gamma 1 to fix the issue on the other monitor, but then my quake turns unplayably dark. I like my in-game gamma, any ideas?

Nope, you're screwed, unfortunately. This is what xewie started to fix by making OpenGL shaders do gamma instead. I continued a bit on his work, but my OpenGL skills are as good as non existent and the solution wasn't really production quality, so I scratched that :/ (My jQuake toy client has this, but it's linux only) It's in the ezQuake git history if there are any developers out there feeling a need to to QW development

Same problem here. Is ezq windowed a possibility? If not, try diff gamma settings in windows when u neeed to stream... never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.

For me the second monitor gets brighter but it's still totally possible to read text and it's barely something that has annoyed me. I noticed if i increased gl_contrast in QW the problem got worse though. I use gl_gamma 0.6 and gl_contrast 1. www.facebook.com/QuakeWorld

Might have to make the game slightly darker... hope it won't affect the stream negatively though

If stream gets too dark you just use the OBS gamma setting under game capture -> properties to set the gamma for the actual stream. I have that set on 1.5.
Edit: the second monitor will still look bright after altering this, so either view the stream using a separate PC (or perhaps phone) or choose to record to a file that you can view for testing purposes. www.facebook.com/QuakeWorld

Andeh: Didn't I send you a ezquake 3.0 alpha with opengl gamma a while back?? I think I did. You had problems with streaming and gamma then too IIRC.

Just wanted to say its pretty neat that you guys go thru all the hazzle to stream games.
I hope Andeh and SuddendeathTV are back for EQL20 as well.

I hope Andeh and SuddendeathTV are back for EQL20 as well. We were here this time as well, but I was crazily ill in the flu so it was very fortunate that Jehar and Tastyspleen stepped up and covered it while I was dying... We will of course continue with our coverage of everything there is to cover. Hopefully there'll be more things to actually cover though!

When I played with 2 monitors I used to just turn off the second one...

Working on adding GLSL gamma to ezq3. It means that gamma will only affect the QW window, nothing else.

Good thing you are working on a solution for 3.0 .. I get the same thing as well when I run ezquake, but like some echo, it's an annoyance at worst, nothing at best.
