According to the QTV stats, last month was the busiest month in QW in terms of players for over 2 years.
There were 795,835 (not unique) players captured in QTV last month, that's an increase of 41% over August's numbers and an increase of 32% over the same time last year.

(edit:
Uninterruptedly in the past ~2 MONTHS!)
It's fucking GREAT!

It's good news but it probably has a lot to do with the fact that there were around 30 new QTV's added to Meta-QTV at the end of august. More servers to track -> more games -> more players.

That's what I thought at first too but there's basically nobody playing on those newly added servers. The vast majority of the activity comes from foppa, besmella, qw.co.uk, troopers and irc.ax, and these have been tracked since the beginning.
The player numbers could actually be slightly under represented because butt.se is broken so the Russian playground servers aren't monitored.

Well, if you check servers you will notice a huge rise in activity. A lot of people are playing lately, whenever you check QTV during evenings, lots of games are being played
