is there any gfx pak to change the gib splash explosion? like a blood patch. for example how it is in q3.

You can extract particlefont.png out of your ezquake.pk3 textures/particles folder, alter it, then place it in your qw/textures/particles folder. The blood particle is the one above the bubble.

It doesn't look like you can make it any larger, if that is what you want. I personally just delete all the blood effects because they are distracting.
