hi, helping a friend get back in to qw but on his laptop there are black borders around the game screen, he says its same resolution in windows and qw, anyone have any tips? the laptop is a acer aspirev3-772g :S

My issue may not be the same but its something you could try. Check what client version hes using. I got a new laptop a few weeks ago and was getting black borders using ezQuake 2.2. Swaped out with one of the ezQuake 3 builds and its working properly now.

Did you check his graphics options to see so that he's not using GPU scaling or something like that? What's his native res and at what res is he playing?
