40cm? not bad And the funny thing is, in some games, namely rtcw, 40cm of mouse movement does 180 degree in game .

i recently bought a razer copperhead 2000dpi 1000hz, but after 4 days i switched back to my m510 ohh what a great feeling! the razer feels chopy, not smooth at all not easy to hold. i Only have 6 buttons working with my mx510. Didn't work with razer either.
Mouseware 9.80 Ezquake-GL Windows XP 500hz (1000hz just isn't stable)

MX510 @ 500mhz (fits nicely in my shovel like hands), tried at 1000mhz and works fine but doesn't feel any different to 500mhz, I figured the mouse would probably be more reliable at 500mhz. Oh and all buttons work with ezq.

Don't buy copperhead, it's just piece of shit. Now, after almost 5 months of "using" it, I'm 100% sure of that. I had 3 copperheads in that period, all three besides their own invididual problems had one in common - something like that:
http://virtual.maniak.pl/razer3.png http://virtual.maniak.pl/razer4.png
This pictures were made by using my friend's and my own hand, we tried to draw not too big circles using mid-slow movement. Razer is far from being even decent precise mouse... We tried 7 different computers, 3 different operating systems (including linux), 5 different mousepads (including everglide titan which is designed for copperhead), all available firmwares, even those 'dangerous', newest and older drivers, and even different locations (cities). No changes. Crap. I think it's that 'laser technology' fault, because optical diamonback is ok.
The only good thing in ch is it's shape/design, at least for me, as I'm left handed and it's hard to find better designed mouse. Diamonback is much worse at this point imho.
Did someone test G1? How is it when compared to razers/mx310/mx300?

Mouse: when not using my girlfriends, this is what i've got. Razer Diamondback, running in stable 500hz with a smooth 2mm Q-PAD

plast: had you considered that maybe you can't draw circles?

Oldman: I can, and neither I was drunk nor was the other guy, look at those circles drawn using mx310 or diamondback, they are smooth and cool contrary to copperhead's. I don't believe in coincidences, those 3 mouses I'm reffering to were bought in different shops each in 2 months intervals.

Here you go Murdoc:
Mouse driver logitech 9.80 and use Mouse control center 9.80.019 to bind mouse buttons to key strokes.
Cmd line: C:\QUAKE\ezquake-gl.exe -basedir c:\quake -width 1152 -height 864 -conwidth 512 -bpp 32 -m_mwhook -mem 128 -democache 57344 -condebug -cheats +set cl_confirmquit 0 +cfg_load DD -gamma 0.4
Hope that helps

And btw. I don't believe on those fancypancy mouse pads http://www.store.tintin.com/en/index.cfm?store_page=product_info.cfm&prod_id=634&cat=163&cat_up=75 very very good mousepad

let me know if the icepad is any good I've used one before when I was staying with os|steppa and os|thompen (they both have one). It's really nice. My Everglide Giganta was good once but it's gone all Jordan's Baby on me now. I've been getting the feeling that my MX510 is too big for me recently, particularly when trying to shaft/boomstick. I sometimes get arm ache too, heh. So I reckon a smaller mouse is the way to go...

i just switched from mx500 to a mx518. very big difference in accuracy and speed compared to my old mx500. still getting used to the 1600 dpi but i like it. i'm using a corepad magma blue. made of safety-glass with dots imprinted and gives me very good tracking and it's fkking smooth. 500hz

Do you guys really need all that equipment + 1000hz mango smoothie? It probably helps to hit with shaft, but i doubt if it's helping to hit with sg/rl, since you don't have to follow the object but just pick point, in which you don't need the smooooothnes. and btw. on 4on4 you don't need 40% lg (at least on e1m2 and dm2)

well for people that play with m_accel 0 and rely on the same amount of effort equalling the same amount of change then a mousepad with consistant traction is important
regarding dpi, it probably makes little or no difference but.... it involves setting a variable (linux) or installing a dll (windows) so why not use it?
