Hey guys,

My name is Shamblernaut, last year I ran the quake awards www.quakeawards.com which sought to award talented content producers from the quake community for their good work, as well as outreach to the wider community.

This year, myself and the other organisers have decided to include multiplayer maps in the awards.
I'm looking for any final release of maps that were released in 2018. I have two maps from Rhoq and one map from anni. There are a number of threads from about mid year that had maps that were betas, did any of these make it out of beta? If they did does anybody have a link to either the final release that they can share?

At this point in time we're not going to include remixes of maps unless they significantly change the gameplay of the map.

The three maps I have so far are:

Race13 by anni, Rhoqtdm2 by Rhoq, and Rhoqtdm1 by Rhoq.

Questions for anni:
Did race 14 get finished? https://www.quakeworld.nu/forum/topic/5058/page/7
Did an1 get finished? https://www.quakeworld.nu/forum/topic/7284/108041/working-on-a-4on4-map/

Question for zg3n:
Did xexanoth come out of beta? (https://www.quakeworld.nu/forum/topic/7269/xexanoth-1v12v2ffa)

Question for foogs:
Did drop out get a final version? (https://www.quakeworld.nu/forum/topic/7285/duel2on2-map-drop-out)
Did burial get a final version? (https://www.quakeworld.nu/forum/topic/7132/burial-by-foogs)
Did burial get a final version? (https://www.quakeworld.nu/forum/topic/7268/excavation-1on12on2)

Finally if any of you know of any maps that had a final version that were released last year, please let me know. I'm really keen to show off multiplayer maps in this years awards. We also have the QWTF guys on board which is super cool. I'm hoping for a really good showing this year

Thanks in advance,

Shamblernaut.

I would love to see some attention boosting for MP maps... and actually just having a good central place to see releases would be great.

I'm wondering if the "final release" criterion is going to be hard to figure out. These days, many MP maps seem to just wander along having a new tweaked version pop up every now and then, indefinitely.

Hey Johnny,

Thanks for the reply. The reason why we're not accepting betas is to stop people "double dipping" in the awards. Having said that if people have a complete(ish) beta that they'd like to have in the awards we can do that, they would be ineligible for future awards though.

Regards,

Snaut

Sadly my PC got stolen last year, so all sources of race14 and an1 got lost forever. Race 14 was far from finish anyway, but an1 will see no more release, so beta6 is the final version.

Thanks anni

I'll include beta6 of that map then.

For what it's worth, it is possible to decompile maps back to .map from .bsp... typically it isn't pretty.... but if you wanted to see it complete it's possible.

Anyway, thanks for letting me know

here ya go consider this as my "entry" https://www.quakeworld.nu/forum/topic/7285. I think I'll wait on releasing Excavation because it's pretty fucked up and not final. Burial was just a test map and not much work went into it. I'll think about revisiting it but I dont like the layout too much.

Hi Shamblernaut,

I don't know if many people actually tried out beta2 (xexanoth), so I didn't really make any further releases. So in that regard I guess you could say it's the final version. I tried to position items in a balanced way but was seeking a little more feedback on that and any bugs. Structurally it's complete imo. I still have the source files, and I'm happy to package it up as a final version complete with txt file description, etc.. if you like?

I really just wanna see how it plays in either 1v1 or FFA with players who can "actually" play (ie. not me). So if people are playing my map I'd be keen to watch some vids or streams. =)

Cheers.
