I'm in the mood of sharing.

I want to share a quote with you:

Quote:
"in the relationships of love, we have the lover and the beloved.
"the lover lives the relationshiop with passion! devotion and romanticism.
... the beloved.. simply enjoys being worshiped"

As most of the readers, i'm near my forties. And i've played games all my life. Lately nostalgia knocked in, and while chatting with my mate Matrix on Whatsapp, he told me he was looking for a CRT monitor in local ads.
I understood what he was aiming for.

He finally got one. And I got one too. In 2017.

This is our story

In december, Spirit and the Quaddicted crew had a really nice iniciative on their website. By their words:

Quote:
On 24 days 24 people will showcase something about Quake. Something old, something new, something obscure, something you should check out.

As some of you may know, our wiki (http://wiki.quakeworld.nu) isn't accepting sign ups anymore, because of spam bots. It was decided to shut down the new sign ups to avoid them. It's a bad situation.

Today I present you a series of exercises you can do. I do some of them after a long break, I believe they help me bring back my game faster. Even if I’m just an average player, without these exercises I’d be much worse or i would take more time to recover my form.
So, here they are.

Ahh, config optmization. I've always liked this part. Today i'm gonna talk about binds placement (keys). After reading this I hope you open your config and take a closer look at your binds, and make some improvements.
To motivate you, i'm going to talk about my own binds.

Powerups play an important role in any fps. Since the dawn of time (1997) players have their own tactics of knowing the respawn times of each one of them. Some used stopwatches, some played a sound that lasted 60 seconds for quad and 5m for penta/ring... Among other creative solutions
Later the fps community evolved and gameclock was no longer considered a cheat, so everyone started using it.

Sometimes 5 fingers aren't enough. I bet you had situations in the past that you wish you had tentacles to press all the keys you want to
Fortunately there's an easy way to rebind the same key to do something different. I call them "Switch keys".

I remember so much different the internet back in 1997. I printed all the quake's console commands and studied them. The config was simple and straightforward. Everything was new, even the internet.
Today is so much different. Its literally the information age.
Same for QuakeWorld. You need help? Most of the questions is already answered. You just have to know where to look.

Different players use different keys to do the same thing. Many players choose weapon with a key, then fire with mouse button 1 (mouse1). Others have a different key to fire different weapons. Some fire with SPACE, others with mouse buttons. It's a matter of taste.
As everyone, I have my own way of firing weapons in QuakeWorld.
