well.. its been a feature for a while but i never used, now thats default on ezquake 1754,i really wanna know how to configure it properly... i already tried a few times but i get REAL BAD choppiness when i turn it to on and the maxfps goes bigger than the server maxfps (which here is 72 on some servers and 77 on the majority of em)... i still tried to use the cl_physfps with diferent values and still getting plenty of choppy gameplay
i wanna know some good configuration to smooth the gameplay with higher fps, any suggestions plz post it up =D

http://ezquake.sourceforge.net/docs/?independent-physics where they say "You might wish to set it to xxx", actually that mean u must in most cases.
also u need "vid_vsync 0"

also u need "vid_vsync 0" Which should be 'vid_vsync 0.0' now according to the same upgrade guide =)

thx for the tips guys... i managed to cut out the choppiness with this settings cl_maxfps 231 pushlatency 0 cl_physfps 77 vid_vsync 0.0 cl_nopred 0 cl_nolerp 0 the weirdest thing is: why the hell 0.0 on vid_vsync ?!!? dunno the reasons but went good for me... 230 steady fps and 27 steady ping for me... and a lot of happiness

(Note: Due to some other circumstances you have to use exactly 0.0 in your config, just vid_vsync 0 might get ignored in some occasions).

No, you don't need vid_vsync 0 I played with 154hz/154fps 500hz mouse, smooth as hell. The only way i can get it smooth now is with these settings.
vid_vsync 0 cl_maxfps 0 cl_nopred 0 cl_nolerp 0 pushlatency 0 cl_physfps 0

Whenever I've tried vid_vsync. quake has dropped fps in ezquake from 150 to 77 and I get some strange mouse-smoothing, like it's on ice :/

why it's dropping from 150 to 77 is that because then it's forcing down the fps to match exact hz (that will say in this case, 77) .. that's vid_vsync

i agree with phrenic
before i used vid_vsync 1 in a specific hertz/displayfrequency i.e with my 19" crt i used 144hz in 640x480 and smooth as hell.
and now with ez1754 i use the same settings as you, except cl_maxfps where i have 400fps and its pretty ok i think.
but one thing im not notice any differences with is the command: +set cl_independentPhysics 1 But if that cmd is server-depending thats the reason why im not notice any further changes.?

Yes, if find that with independentphysics and all the commands set up correctly there is still small traces of tearing when you move around. Especially around high contrast areas such as light on a dark wall and textures with vertical structure to it. Top room on DM4 is one example. However this tearing is offset by the higher overall display Hz and fps IMO. Looks like vid_vsync 1 the old fashion way is still the only way to have it perfectly smooth, but I will try out EZQuake for awhile and see how it fares. /PaRa

I use 154fps / 154hz on 800*600 on a 19' Sony E430... Its very smooth (when there isn't network lag), but when i move my mouse fast i notice a bit of tearing and seems that the movement isnt fast enough (ever tryed m_filter 1?)
Ill try new settings when i get home. i want that fast mouse feeling back never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.

On large maps with lots of players my old PC simply can not keep up with that, so the higher FPS and refresh is mostly usable on 1on1 or 2on2 matches. So I will need to check up on that. /PaRa Paradizer: Tripple Buffering applys to Vertical Synchronization only, so if u have VSync turned off it does nothing, since noone uses it, might just set it to 0. 75hz with 150fps screen is smooth and mouse responds very well when using fps doubling ur monitor hz 77hz with 154fps - Some people say its best to use a multiple number of fps that a server allows (im going to find out about this if true or not, altough i didnt find any diference playing with 150fps) Higher fps than monitor hz seems to respond bad to mouse movements in my case. I have intellimouse explorer 3.0 (the old gray, not the new black) at 500hz so im not sure if its my PC, Mouse or higher fps vs hz just bad. i tried 138hz (my max) with any fps like: 150,154,1000 and mouse seems lagged. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

About having more fps than hz and mouse lags i dont think its right, probably connection or when im feeling pretty tired must be lag in my head... nevermind that.
