Who is using particle shaft ingame? (gl_lightning 1) and what do you think about it? Easier/harder/same to shaft? Any comments on this being allowed in tournaments, or do you just consider it another gfx perk like new textures, but has no real effect on gameplay? perhaps some before/after testresults using http://lgc.quakeworld.nu/ ?

What config settings am I missing as gl_lightning doesn't change look of the shaft to be that way? If I use gl_coronas with it I can make it eye candy but's it's not the same like in that screenshot. Without gl_coronas, gl_lightning "1" doesn't change a thing atm. TEAM QUAD [need nothing] shaga loses another friend shaga discovers blast radius QUAD

I tried playing with it in some 1on1s back when I switched to ezquake, I didn't see any large difference, I got used to it pretty fast. It's rather annoying depending on your settings too, if you have the really thin or thick one changes alot. I say allow if it's not, just like fakeshaft: It just might feel better for some...

It makes it easier to hit i.m.o.. Also consider the possibility to turn this: into this: with only a few changes in the gl_part* settings.

Hardly easier to hit with since the shaft moves around more than the other shaft :/

Up2nOgOoD[ROCK]: how do I use that? I currently use black bolt2_0.png but would be interesting to try out something else. ps. I don't hit better with black shaft but it looks way more cool. I did. I have a wide spread lg. Even with gl_lightning_size 0.5

No, for two reasons, black is used as an alpha channel, means rgb 0 0 0 is completely transparent, and a brigther black is then semi transparent, and if you make it grey, it will just turn blue, as the white color turns into blue in ezquake. The one you posted is just a big blue beam with transparency in the middle

Hi, i have a problem with gl_lightning 1 . Actually, i don't have any trail at all - nothing. And i don't know why, i haven't been playing with particles settings in cfg. Someone have idea what's going on? I have latest nQuake + pak1.pak.

I practised vs some bots and had some better shaft with a light modified new shaft. But we talk about 1 - 2%

No ofcourse not, some animation won't magically make you aim better, tho it can be less of an anoyance to use, it's all use preference..

You can also use a completely tranparent image.. and then take one of the hud_group and make it align center and bottom.. and make it width 2 and height like 180 or something (depending on conheight) with a blue (or whatever you want) frame. Then you get just a straight blue line instead of the shaft, if you "show" it on your shaft key and "hide" it when no shafting.. http://www.myspace.com/cervello
