Time for some jumps! The MVDSV team has the pleasure to announce the creation of a dedicated map, "MVDSV Kindergarden" which will soon be the default map (instead of the iD copyrighted start.bsp) and thus shipped with all the new releases of the MVDSV server files.
In order to celebrate this event and the upcoming release of a new version, the MVDSV team needs YOU.
Download the map, play on it as much as you want, and record great demos of various trickjumps, greats shots, funny moves or anything you think worth being seen, then upload them here. Best entries will be used as material for the upcoming MVDSV promotional movie and you will get rich and famous! More seriously (no, QuakeWorld is NOT a game!), you'll get credits for your nice tricks and people will see you jumping by the great art of Pez (go fr!), who should be the artist behind the promotional movie! The map "MVDSV Kindergarden" has been created by Spirit who I will quote for a little explanation: This map started as small "doodle" which then grew more and more into what it is now. Its style is a bit thrown together as I did not plan it but it emerged whilst mapping. People who I showed screenshots of the map to often asked "what the hell is this map about"? Well, it's obviously not a Singleplayer map and it's not a deathmatch map either. It's merely meant for fooling around, trick, bunny, practise movement and have a lot of fun. Play it with god mode and all weapons. MVDSV/KTX's warmup/prewar mode is perfect for that, after all the map was built for it. The sources to this map are freely available. Check the mvdsv-kg.txt for more info. I included both the QuArK .qkm file (which got pretty messy "groups" and the plain .map. I don't suggest you take the sources to check how I built it *cough*. Please read the readme and try not to distribute the map without it. So how does this work? Just a (few) steps: 01) Get the map!02) Get the 24bits textures03) Put the map in your id1/maps directory 04) Launch your favorite client 05) Type in console: "sv_cheats 1" 06) Type in console: "map mvdsv-kg" 07) Type in console: "god" 08) Type in console: "impulse 9" 09) If you are an ezQuake 1.9+ user: MAKE SURE "cl_nopext" IS SET TO "1" BEFORE RECORDING!10) Record tons and tons of nice tricks 11) Upload your demos to the dedicated page: Upload is password protected, click the "Log in" link at bottom of page and enter "mvdsv"Of course, tricks don't have to be solo, you can team-trick too! And then, you can give feedback [EDIT: Contest will run for 2 full weeks to allow people to have time during week-ends to get some nice demos ]

You can go on qw.deurk.net:27503 and connect with password "mvdsv" to record things if you want Note: the server is matchless and anybody can join at any time, server records as long as someone is connected.

deurk dude, you recorded your demos in a mod with extra media (sounds/models/etc.). Just thought I'd let you know, because they're required for playback. I ignored the sounds and used dummy models to play it back.

Ok, the map looks great and Spirit made a really good job on it! However I don't think it'll work as default map! The prewar fun is based on shooting each other, bunny around, tricks and chit chat! This map has no good areas where we can spam greens on other players and bunny possibilities are very limited. I'm making a test with this map as default on a ktx server, but if I don't get a good feedback from players, I'll get it back to dm3! https://tinyurl.com/qwbrasil - QuakeFiles

I partly agree with veg here. Would be cool if there was a flatter area beneath the current "void" stuff, and tons of teleporters/airlifts to go up through from there. Below would be more like dm2-bigroom kinda areas, where people could prewar freely, while above you'd be more constricted to jumping around/tricking, etc. Just tossing ideas out there though

Firstly: Let me be clear about what MVDSV default map means: If you don't specify on command line or anywhere in the config what map to start as default one, what does MVDSV do? It does load a map, and at this point it is still start.bsp, a useless single player map allowing to select level for single player mode on a multiplayer server, and copyrighted hence not able to be distributed with the server files. This is what I propose to replace it with. Now Vegetous, if you have dm3 as a default map, I am not going to replace it since you specified it explicitely somewhere Secondly: I am more than welcoming other nice trick maps to be created and "sponsored" by MVDSV! Make a nice map where people can relax or have fun and submit it to me And I even got ideas for a special project map if anybody wants to step up for the task (I think I got Spirit tired )
