Please someone fix how you have to click the comments to read more of the news post.

In every other sane news system like that, the last line is "read more..." which is a link to it. Most users might be confused and think the stub of the news post is the entire thing, because a number is not intuitive or large enough for a person to see and click

Just click the heading?
"ream more..." is one of the not-recommended way to do it (OTOH, some users are used to it)

New York Times, BBC NEWS, Independent - no "read more" or anything like that...

Starting from 14.9 news post (lgc) I count 12 news post items for up to date. That averages 1 news in less than 3 days and is pretty adequate I guess as there are no important stuff going on otherwise. League sites have their own pages concerning results and such, and we are yet to be even close to any finals.

Not all news is good or interesting news.

Johnny is right. Underlining the heading is the proper way to handle this and also Web usability experts like Nielsen say so. The problem with links like "click here" or "read more" is that they are (or next to) non-descriptive. This might be not a problem you say, as you know the context but that also applies for the heading itself which is at the same time more meaningful -- i.e. if you scan a page quickly, you will grasp that heading better and know it's a link (underlined) and know what's behind it compared to a plain "read more".

Additionally such meaningful links are better for search engines and they regard it with a better ranking. And we all (except Sassa maybe) want a Qw.nu news entry showing as high-ranked as possible on Google, don't we?

Well you can always click the headline, as there are no news without a body, and if there was, you could still use it to see the comments

I really like the look of what Spirit suggested. How about a compromise? Underline the headline *and* make with Spirit said. That little 'Read more' link added hopefully won't bother you web purists too much?

Why underline it when you already know it's always a link?

Underlining the title is probably the best but the color should also be changed then. Use a more light and obvious color (like the blue of the text line) to make it more visible as a link.

I don't know why you're resisting this so much. Anyways, yes, I know it's a link *now*. The first time I wanted to read an article it was rather confusing though. Took me a good four or five seconds before I realized I had to click the heading.

Just put a read more link like Spirit suggested. It doesn't take much and help people used to it.

Zalon, the original poster obviously did not know it, others might not know it either. I know that it is a design decision, no harm done here and I for myself can live without it. However, if you strive for usability, underline links and do not underline anything else. It is just a recommendation really.

You should not add a "read more" link though, if you ask me. Non-descriptive links just suck.

It is descriptive: read more about the article... it states what the link does.
Since we are on opinions: I like the read more buttons, they are easy to spot and easy to use.

deurk: Yes, technically "non-descriptive" is a too harsh term for a "read more" link, "quasi-non-descriptive" would be more apropriate in this case.

I count an average of ~1 news post/2 days.

Please show me a Quake 1 site with a better average.
