it works in certain conditions, provided you ping directly to a server, let's say 38 ms, and you ping 5 ms to the qizmo, which pings a further 13 ms to the direct server, this way, you end up playing on 26 ms through qizmo instead of 38 direct http://slip.4.pl/ - unblocking myspace facebook firewall

Just a curious question, do other games have this possibility? I haven't played other games for like 5-6 years so I don't know, just got to think of it now, that this is actually really smart heh... .over.and.out.ten.four.roger.that.affirmative.

I am quite certain they don't. They might have better netcode though (at least the CPMA players claim to have). www.facebook.com/QuakeWorld

from experience i can confirm: CPMA netcode = $ sometimes even feels like ~LAN when playing on foreign servers

there is no magic 'lower my ping' setting. All there is is compression (which I have no idea about), and re-routing.
To set up a different route, find some web-based qizmo and connect to that, then type .connect serverip:port (note the leading dot before connect). Of course, finding a qizmo near you that results in a lower ping to the server when it has to go via the qizmo too might be impossible.
To use compression, you need to connect via two qizmos. You can only compress over the hop between qizmos, so you would kinda need to run a qizmo locally. I can't remember the exact way to tell the second proxy to connect though but it should be in the menus - as should enabling compression somehow. If its greyed out then you'll need to register. Good luck.

Cl_useproxy 1 After that every connect goes through your proxies. connect localhost connect remotehost connect gameserver Here's another tip for proxy users, "Inbuilt qizmo proxy menu navigation support; toggleproxymenu - feature by johnnycz". ps. This all works only in ezquake. TEAM QUAD [need nothing] shaga loses another friend shaga discovers blast radius QUAD
