I did some little modifications and converted to mdl, the original model made by Gollun and release it as a new spectator model for KTeams, KTpro and KTX. The model is low poly and has crappy textures, but it's 10 times better than wizard's one. And I hope it will stimulate people to do a better texture or even a decent model. Hmm, I use 1.9 and I put the file in the ezquake folder, but didn't seem to work? Nothing happend.

surely ideal spectator mdl would be a floating ranger torso, made by cutting off arms and legs from the ranger .mdl and then ideally with some alpha blend to give 0.4-0.7% opacity or something

And it's been like this for several weeks. What, why? My IP is most often from the 213.* range if you have blocked some?

Umm, how does having no legs come into play ? Does it make it more plausible for the model to fly? Personally I would like to see a nice new style ranger that is textured like a ghost and with some transparency. But don't remove any limbs!

thx, i actually have lots of ideas to "enrich" quake with elements from super mario. it all depends on what you grew up playing i guess. on topic: i still like the old wizards model a lot, i think it's classy. problem is, it's looking pretty dated by todays standard. the camera is well done and doesn't look so dated, but it's a bit too bland and "serious" looking for my taste.

But don't remove any limbs! dunno, to me it makes it clear its a spectator rather than an active player if it is floating with no limbs

i don't think a camera fits the QW theme well i'd go for the ranger head flying around.. creepier and everybody would have the model already

how about..... <<<<---------- the dopefish! its all id, its all quake related. doesnt have enough credit, and this could be a nice way to honour our beloved dopefish edit: oh kalma already mentioned it. its a good idea though never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.

Using an already existing Quake model has the benefit that it's already included in the game. The drawback, however, is that the game looks...broken. I'd go for some kind of camera model. Maybe it's possible to make it look a bit more oldschool than the one proposed in this thread? www.facebook.com/QuakeWorld
