The problem is.. that i always need to sync my fps with my monitor hz, ALWAYS to get it smooth. Doesn't matter what game i play, it's not smooth if i don't got the same fps as hz.
What can the problem be? and it's not VSYNC, already checked that it's always off.
I know some of you guys have 100hz monitor, running qw in 1024x768 (with fps 308 etc) and it's smooth. Tried new drivers, uninstalled old drivers correctly etc..
All help would be appricated.

this is not only in qw, physfps is on 0, same with 77..

Gimme some specs: GFX, driver version, monitor (lcd or crt?), vista/xp...
If your motherboard has integrated graphics, make sure to disable it from BIOS.

hmm. client fps being a multiple of screen refreshrate has always worked best. Sure 300fps on 85hz is okish, but it's not smooth But 300fps and 100hz is much smoother for me. 600fps and 150hz is the bestest in qw. 125fps 125hz in q3 is also really smooth.

It shouldn't be an issue with DirectX games though.

You can add custom refreshrates using a app. like riva tuner (mine would only allow 85hz as default) If your crt monitor cant handle it, i would consider geting a new monitor

At the same time you should run x*77 FPS where x is an integer (heltal in swedish) to avoid delay. Closest around 600 is 616.

But ill will try 154 and 616 next time. Perhaps i can beat lakso with these settings. Johnny/renzo/niomic: Is it preferred to have max_fps divided by phys-fps equal an integer?

with crt i like to play with fps = 2x hz
if i play with 120hz, i use 240.5 fps if i play with 154hz, i use 308.5 fps
when i had voodoo gfx card I used fps = hz, worked pretty well also
ofc if you have a good pc you can use 600+ fps
I prefer fps stability, therefore the "low" values i adopt edit: i use "timedemo fps" to have an idea on the value i should set on cl_maxfps never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.
