rc3 up at http://ftp.endpoint.nu/pub/software/fquake/
please bear in mind that the releases will only be in the form of a new / updated installer
the CONTENTS of fquake can be updated at any time without touching the installer
mirrors can also be added without editing the installer, so if you want to mirror fquake, send me a message!

i cleaned up the code, fixed a bug and rc4 is coming up in 1-2 hours
"omg why rc4 so soon?"
well the code has so extremely few bugs that 1 bug fix is a HUGE step forward in development!

i didnt follow the entire thread, so maybe this has been stated already. i understand that you are preparing fquake in order to have a completely legal playable version of quake which could be publically advertised without worrying of the consequences. is that so, or is there a different purpose for it compared to equake (since newcomers do have to get additional stuff so as to be able to play qw as we know it.. DM maps etc)?

if a server has "allow pak downloads" turned on, fQuake not including pak1 will not be a problem
but with fQuake i encourage people to buy the game

the updates on the installer?
rc1 -> rc2
added mirror selecttion added distfile destination selection added real license added purchase info (well, moved actually) uninstaller only removes files it has installed itself and hasn't been modified
rc2 -> rc3
textures (high & low res) now act as radio buttons empty_directories (files) removed after installation has been completed preferences page was fixed (was not perfect) uninstaller got a bugfix (didn't remove all files that were installed)
rc3 -> rc4
fuhquake security module was not being counted when setting section sizes ezquake security module "added" (pre-emptive package addition - i.e. empty package) code cleanup
----------
as far as i know there is only 1 bug in the installer:
* clicking on "eye candy" selects all eye candy subsections except low res textures (should select/deselect everything except high res textures)
i'm gonna see if i can fix this bug tomorrow, i'm not too creative after 15:00

rc4 -> rc5
fixed a possible bug where the uninstaller would not remove UNCHANGED slicnse.txt & pak0.pak removed the ultra high res texture pack (and hence removed the only known remaining bug in the installer)

i dunno what textures you are including, but might I recommend megazoid's 5mb high compression, resized to 2x original resolution, version of the QRP textures? his post is here

i'm using the qrp low res texture pack and my intentions with fquake is not to make an uber small qw package, so unless those textures are of higher quality i think i'm gonna stick with these. but thanks for the suggestion

the content is pretty much during a beta state so i don't think im gonna keep track of any changes there until i make fQuake official

rc6 coming up soon
nothing visible, just a major code optimization (30% less code) that i want people to "bugtest" or whatever

rc7 coming up i fixed the uninstallation bar so that it actually ticks up from 0% to 100%

rc7 -> rc8
added common useful scripts zip package (that work in all clients)
i kind of doubt i can think of anything else to add so it feels like next time the installer gets an update it ill be the official v1.0

rc8 -> rc9
improved installer welcome/finish bitmap (downsized original instead of upsized downsized original ;P) replaced installer header bitmap updated icon (new ezQuake icon) single player map packs removed some text removed from finish page
I'm making this rc9 cause I'm still not ready to release v1.0 (I want other stuff to be 100% before I do)
rc9 -> rc10
made qwdtools "recommended" and moved it to the base package group renamed branding to "fQuake Installer vX.X"
rc10 -> rc11
added an error message when downloading of mirrors.ini/distfiles.ini fails

I get a nice 404 error when going to this site now ...
http://planetquake.gamespy.com/worldcraft/index2.shtm (aka the Worldcraft site)
I searched my HD for some backups I had made, only to find I had another backup I wasn't even aware of.
Nice! -------- Is that a roll of toothpicks in your pocket or are you just happy to see Sassa?
