Hi! I need the help of the community, cos i have a serious problem, wich leads to my qw career end. As u know, im quite active player, so if u dont want to loose another full active player, pls help me. The problems began when my deathadder was dead, and i bought a new shit cheap logitech(pilot or something) mouse(1000 dpi, no software it has). it feels like i have 30 fps(from 308), and it is the further thing from smooth. Especially the fast moves sux with it. I tried to manipulate its hz, and i stil have the problem, i aslo tried to change in_mouse, without results. I just cant describe more correctly what is its problem, i just showed to the others, and noone knows whats my problem. It feels like mouseaccel on and fps dropping at the same time. I reinstalled winxp, disabled accel, reinstalled qw, reconfiged qw( 2 coloured maps, changed fps, etc) and i still have the prob. My command line is: @start ezquake-gl-r4122 -game qw -mem 32 -democache 32768 -width 800 -height 600 -conwidth 400 -conheight 300 -bpp 32 +set vid_displayfrequency 75 +set vid_vsync 0 -maxtmu2 -particles 8192 -noforcemaccel +set cl_independentPhysics 1 -norjscripts -gamma 0.7 +exec servers.txt I cant buy a new one, i had a 4 weeks vacation . I hope u can help, thax. JohnNy_cz: Next time try to use as descriptive topic name as possible when asking for help. Also use the help section on this forum instead.

If you have an nvidia card, set an application profile for ezquake, and make sure "threaded optimization" is OFF. I had a problem that sounded like yours, and thats what cured it

borrow a deathadder (not sure what it is actually) somewhere and try with that to make sure the problem is with the mouse and not the client/system settings.

1) get rid off command line switches (they are deprecated years ago, everything now stores inside of /qwdir/ezquake/configs/config.cfg) 2) maybe you should install latest version setpoint(tm)(c)(r) drivers? Mine do no spaek engrish!

Its becouse it cant go over 125hz polling im sure. Just impossible to get it smooth no matter what, and even worse if u have crt at 154 hz. Mouse input less frames than the monitor. I bought one pilot mouse (rx 250) in hope it could perform like the mx300, but no hidusbf or anything worked on it, just stuckd to 125 hz. Just ditch the mouse. Have you tested the rate with mouserate checker? (google it if u dont have it) Maybe get microsoft WMO best cheap "non gaming" mouse that realy works well.

Yea, i have xp sp3 and i google for 2 days how to raise the rate, and i dled a tons of mouserate modifier, nothing worked.. i have to hexedit(dunno wtf is this.. ) the usbport.sys, simply i cant do that, i just know how to dl porn and music, thats all my computer knowledge . When i tried with other cheap logitech mouse(even older and cheaper than this one) with 500 hz i had the same problem

http://blaps.se/qw/mouserate.exe - very good hz viewer. http://blaps.se/qw/setup.exe - very good hz changer. Join us on discord.quake.world

125 i have. i dismissed the cmd line, installed the setpoint driver, tried in_mouse with 1-3, still shit, so the rate can be the problem. this mouse sux for qw, so it seems thats the end for me, i just getting sick of it, and my agressive playing style is sux with crappy hardware( laggy shit mouse, 75 hz tft, 65 ping) so when ill have a good hardware, ill be back. Dont think i just give up that easily, i spent a month to fix this matter, i just couldnt, without a new mouse.

Its loads of mice that cant go over 125hz, i have two logitechs that wont go over 125, nothing one can do about it, and thats probably your problem. stop messing with ezquake or os. 125hz feels like slow response, choppy turning/gampley, and one feel it even more on fast movements where "clockable" mice do stable 500hz. You have to get a proper mouse edit ups didn't see two last pos before i posted, omg have to scroll up Get used crt+new mouse=ownage ..a used crt are cheaper than a gaming mouse..

Hardly using command line options can cause any problems. And using them is the most convenient way to change resolution, conwidth and frequency.

this mouse rate changer works with windows xp sp3. give it a try and test the rate with mouserate.exe (not included)
http://www.filefront.com/8590375/hidusbf.zip/ btw, 1000 dpi is more than enough, i played 6+ years with 400dpi mouse never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.

Did you try changing sys_yieldcpu and sys_highprority ?
Member 100 posts

no, i didnt. what is that?

sys_yieldcpu controls how much cpu ezquake should claim (1 is less, 0 is more) - I've seen it affect mouse and network drivers and after flipping the setting it worked as it should.
sys_highpriority just gives ezquake a higher/lower prio than other normal programs in case something is interfering. (these are console commands in ezquake so bring out the console and type sys_yieldcpu 1 <enter> etc to change it)
