My current 5ms (or so) 28" widescreen LCD is bugging out (some pixels are starting to fluctuate in color, plus it shipped with a dead pixel years ago...) so I think it is tome to upgrade

I know the QW community is one of the most savvy in the monitors department, so please advise me on what I should get. Budget is 400 euro (500 usd) but I can go higher if it is a really good deal...

I know there are these new fangled 120 hz LCDs are out there. What is the best one these days? Also plus goes to wide screen and large diagonal screen area, and of course good response time and performance and color quality...

well i believe this is a good purchase 300 euro, according to the comments they say that ATI-cards don't use 120hz below native resolution.

And there was apperently problem with SLI and 120hz in Vista, but problems like that often gets fixed by drivers, firmwares etc.
When i'm gonna upgrade monitor soon it will be 2233RZ thats for sure.

But i'm no monitor-specs-pro so u will probably soon get better feedback from some hardcore gurus like murdoc,renzo

Samsung 2233RZ or Viewsonic VX2265WM. Unfortunately both are 22" 1680*1050, but rather these models than that "broken" GD245HQ. 2233RZ seems to have the least of input lag, while GD245HQ has the most.

If 120Hz isn't a requirement, prad.de reviews will help a lot.

LG seems to have 120Hz model too, however as usual the "quality" of this monitor is something else. On top of that the input lag seems to be between 0-36ms, average being 27ms (utter crap).

Funny how these "gaming grade 120Hz" TN TFTs cost over twice as much as your average same sized TN TFT, yet the "quality" of these 120Hz models is worse.

Ive bought the VS 120hz recently and i'm satisfied with it. Even won some 2on2s vs bps!

If you're going to play qw, go for 120hz 22" (havnt compared it with samsung). If your not playing qw, buy something else.

But, my current monitor shipped with a dead pixel years and years ago and its already an old uncle which I want to get rid of anyway... So I will be checking out yur excellent recommendations anyway!

19" LCD is perfect for me. Screw CRT.

Maybe the size is fine for you, but 60hz is truly horrible. You don't even know what you're missing. Once you go higher than 60hz, you can never go back.

If you haven't tried Fodquake, then you don't know how smooth qw can be at 60 or 75hz.

It's not a question of smoothness or lack thereof. You're receiving half of the visual information someone on 120hz gets, and it has a significant impact on your game.

OK, and that's just because of the higher refreshrate? What kind of videocard would you need to play at these high resolutions? Would a 240 GT be enough? These are affordable these days.

Speaking of resolutions, I do think it's disappointing that the Samsung doesn't even have full HD resolution for that kind of money.
