JohnNy_cz did an IRC spam about this but some days ago but it doesn't seem to have reached everyone:
qqshka did some server side changes that surfaced a bug in ezQuake, the so called "dwarf bug".
qqshka also commited a fix for this in ezQuake about a week ago, so for everyone experiencing the problem just go grab the latest nighly build and the problem is gone (or compile yourself from source ofc).

What exactly is the "Dwarfbug"?

When spectating/watching demo, every now and then the POV will be at the players feet, rather than head
You can see an example here: http://www.esreality.com/post/2243313/#postform click on the VODs, yes they are a bit choppy, but there are many times during the game when the POV is closer to the ground than it should, sometimes it is as if the person is lying prone...

many thanks dimman, i was one of the victims of this bug, and had no idea what was going on. again, thx for sharing this in a proper communication channel (the forum) never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you back to their level and then beat you with experience.

What is a "nighly build" and where can I go and grab it? I'm tired of this bloody "dwarf bug". There's enough dwarfs out there in the real world, and we don't need every qw player to be a dwarf as well.

"ezQuake NIGHTLY BUILDS" is a sticky on this forum http://uttergrottan.localghost.net/ezquake/dev/nightlybuilds/

I thought only alpha/nightly builds are affected (hence I didn't bother to announce it on this forum - those who use alpha versions should know there will be bugs and upgrading is needed to get rid of them). But it happens also with some stable versions?

I have a stable build and haven't experienced the bug thus far. However lately it has bugged me that it's somehow full fullbright, no shadows whatsoever when I spec through QTV. No idea why this happens only over QTV.

No idea why this happens only over QTV. I have the same problem with full fullbright. Oddly enough, when I load another config with just another hud layout (otherwise same settings) it fixes the problem.

Lol, simple. /r_fullbright 0 did remove the problem, but how come it usually starts speccing with r_fullbright 0, and then after resetting a map (or vid_restart), it goes to fullbright 1?
Anyway problem solved, didn't have the problem before though which is why I was confused. <g>

Nevermind, no it didn't solve the problem. When a map has reset, the same shit happens again. Screenshot:

Old thread, but is there any possibility of a fix for the dwarf bug? Downloaded ezQuake 2.1.1 yesterday which should've fixed it but it happened again now with that version aswell...grr. Edit: or perhaps it wasn't fixed in 2.1.1, but then what version to dl? :S www.facebook.com/QuakeWorld

It will also give you a feature so that gameclock always gets synced instantly when you join in the middle of a game as spectator, or reconnecting as a player. Currently only works on pangela servers though.
