Do you think people would use it? Would it be any use?
Just image: configs, textures, maps, models, sounds, conbacks, console fonts, mods, demos, "my whole qw setup" packs, ... (I'm sure everyone can add at least 10 other things here)
What people use most nowadays? DC++? emule?

Would be awesome. DC++ seems to be the best choice (though I haven't used it yet).

Think about all those short 1 minute movies people are creating (because it's really ez with ezQuake ) but (the movies) are too noob to be placed them on blueyonder but also very funny to have a look at once.

It's very uncomfortable. You have to upload every single new file you create and publish the link 'somewhere'. In p2p you just share your folder with stuff.

We would need to keep it 100% "shitfree", ie Quake related files ONLY.

Ok. Someone with a knowledge and server to run it?
I don't know any reason why people would join such hub with their warez content except for "hey why should I care to change shared dirs, I just use the same for all hubs".
I guess qw.nu guys are not open for this, I guess Sassa thinks I want to destroy gfx.qw.nu page that they are working on right now . (I think both these things can co-exist together very well, offering different content, different quality and comfort.)

Nope, torrents are harder to maintain (though have better speeds). In DC++ you can just share folders, with Bittorrents you have to create a torrent for everything...

I just played around with Hub software a bit and startet a hub at (EDITED, address is 88.84.140.117:4444 and it is hosted on a rather decent server)
I'd like to test the load and speed. It is my home pc so it might be slow
Just come and test with me.

I'm sharing a shitload of files. Not perfectly sorted but ...
I think I can start a "real" hub next week along something else

Well, I seem to be too stupid to setup stuff on a server...
If anyone here knows how to setup a dc++ hub on linux (windows was too easy, heh) please contact me.

it's not like he had to copy the bits manually or count the time till he got the file..

what's so hard to do your stuff (quake, irc, ms word, porn) while the computer downloads something slowly?

oh.. the good old days when i had a 56k modem..
