Sunday Spawnfraggin 4'th september - 1on1 King of the Hill Classics Maps
Maps :: Dm2,Dm4 & Dm6 10 min standard duels
@ 1600 UTC : 1800 CEST : 1900 EEST in #sundayspawnfraggin @ IRC
Signup here on the forum, or dropin to the channel at least 15 min before start saying you want to play. You have to actually say you want to play and be in the channel "at all times" - even if you sign up here..
Structure: At the start everyone is King.
Depending on signups the Hill is a three tier Hill, 1,2,3. As people lose you get dropped down to lower tiers of the hill. If you fall down to 4'th you are eliminated.
I'll be designating who you play following this procedure:
The matches will be priority based.: Win a match: 1. Challenge someone on higher tier. 2, play someone on same tier. 3. Be challenged from below. Lose a match: 2. Play someone on same tier. 2. Be challenged from below. 3. Play someone higher up. Beating someone a tier higher moves you up. Losing to someone on your same tier or lower moves you down. Beating someone on your same tier, only moves loser down.
In the end we will have 3 players remaining, one on each tier. Number 3 gets eliminated with third place finish. the top two play a best of five, with the current king having 1 map win advantage.
Map selection: Single map Rounds with each player removing one map from pool and playing the last one.
The final will be all three maps, with each player picking their map.
The actual hill will be updated live on this post - since i can't make anything fancy =)
You will be told who you are playing - skip reading everything below if you arn't interested in finding out how I decide who you are playing.
Super detailed example of a hill after playing a bit: L = loss, W = win. (last match)
King: Boidii W, Leopold W. Tier2: Drake L, Ocoini W. Tier3: Rikoll L, Carapace L.
Here Boidii and Leopold would play eachother - Knocking one down to Drrake. I might decide Drake plays vs Ocoini if they have been waiting for a match for a while, or I might not let them play yet. Rikoll vs. Carapace - eliminating one of them.
After this we might end up with: King: Boidii W, Tier2: Drake W , Leopold L, Tier3: Carapace W, Ocoini L
Drake would challenge Boidii for the crown. Ocoini would play Leopold. Carapace will wait.
After this we might end up with: King: Drake W, Tier2: Leopold L , Boidii L Tier3: Carapace W, Ocoini L,
Drake would wait. Carapace would play Leopold Boidii might or might not be challenged by Ocoini.
etc... hope you got the jisssst of it!
Otherwise: As you can imagine with more players this will get slightly complicated to predict who you will be playing. Also to speed things along at some point I will force matches to start. So to make it easier I'll just most of the time just have to say who you are playing. I'll try to give you fun matches and eliminate waiting..! and try to follow the example above.
At some point my logic will fail, and you'll be playing some weird matches.. just roll with it..
glglhf!
Report your win loss in irc pm to me please, ty! Formula: Player won vs. player

Was this fun guys? If we disregard that it took to long, and that it needs to be shorter or go over two weekends. How was the way I did King of the Hill compared to a traditional Ladder or a bracket? Was there someone that felt I screwed them on their matches really bad? I thought it was really fun to organize If we do it again, I think we would have to say after 3 hours of playing, we stop for the day - to pick it up again next weekend. There is a risk of losing some players the next weekend when we do this.. But playing QW for 6, (and I spent around 8-9 hours straight) was to much. Street Vendor Crack down Princess Cop

A swiss system makes more sense to me if you want people to get alot of games played and still make progress. A swiss system keeps moving forward. It doesn´t make alot of sense to me that I won all games I played except for one, and I was running the risk of playing in the losers bracket finals vs the third placer and then have a map down on the winner. It didn´t pan out this way because I think you realized it was a bit unfair aswell. Having the tournament run over two sundays seems like it´s missing the mark of being short and sweet which is the big pro of the sunday spawnfraggin. All in all it was quite fun to play alot against players I don´t normally play against and perhaps with some fine tuning it could be a decent format. King of the Hill is however more suited for showgames or a ladder type league, imo. carrier has arrived - twitch.tv/carapace_
