Go join an existing server and see for yourself
212.13.203.37:27500 - Willow CA - this one seems to have a little community around it that plays quite regularly.
These are the UK rules for CA that I'm trying to repeat from memory:
When you're dead, you have color 0, you can spec anyone on any team and talk to all the players. This means you can cheat and tell people on the server information, but no one does this because it's acting like a dick, and this isn't the CS community.
New players connecting to the server are set as "dead". Being dead is different to being /spectator 1. New connecting people have to wait until the current game is over before joining in. This concept seems to confuse a lot of people at first. There is a fiddly way to join a team mid-game, where you do something like "setinfo oldteam blue" "team blue" and that will switch you in next round. Maybe this could be a proper feature in KTX CA.
When the current game is over, a menu comes up which allows you to pick a team. The menu choices: red, blue, yellow etc are bound to impulse 1, 2 etc so you can use the number keys (if you still have them bound) The menu will also show up which team has the least number of players to help even things out. What is missing is something like in CS where there is an Auto button which will assign you to the team with the last number of players.
When everyone is assigned to a team, the game starts. People are spawned randomly around the map, and have 5 seconds before you can fire weapons. This means if you spawn next to 3 enemy players, you have a chance to run like hell to avoid a rapecloset scenario. Also it allows teammates to try to group up for protection. You can also try to block people in and be a bastard
You spawn with 200ra/100h and an admin can toggle weapons on and off and change ammo. The usual settings from memory are unlimited cells, shells, nails, 50 rockets, and grenades set anywhere from 10 to 50.
The scoring is a little weird. Your health is somehow divided up into 300 damage points. You get 1 frag for every 100 points in damage you take off of someone, and another frag for every kill. I guess this is to balance out people hiding then picking off all the wounded guys easily.
If one team hasn't won by the timelimit for that round (I think its about 60 or 90seconds) then what's left of the two teams are spawned at opposite ends of the pent area.
Discharging is disabled, if you do it, you lose all your cells but don't hurt or affect anyone.
TP3 so no damage to teammates/yourself and pogo jumping about like idiots. Also allows you to build up some speed with rocketjumps to attack players entrenched in SNG.
Admins can be elected to change weapon settings/force start a game/change number of teams (3on3on3 can be fun) and reset when some muppet joined the wrong team when its 4:3 (this happens a lot).
At the end of each round you get given stats on everyones damage scores/kills/rl hits/gl hits(important for identifying the spammers)/lg% etc.
UK ettiquette rules:
Don't give out people's health and location to people still playing.
Don't hide all round at pent lift, then come out guns blazing with 200/100.
Don't leave mid-game.
Don't camp in RA spamming nades out of all exits, it's just annoying.
Always play DM3.
Don't be a dick.
That's about all I can remember.
Edit: And most importantly, when it's down to 1 player on each team, and they kill each other. The round is declared a DRO, and you have to play this
sound file.
