An important step in QuakeWorld development has happened today. The author of the most popular computer opponent in QuakeWorld, Robert 'Frog' Field, has agreed to release his Frogbot mod as an open source under the GPL.
I give permission to release all versions of the Frogbot under the GPL (GNU General Public License).
This is an open way to integrate frogbots more deepely into the client and server and improve and update it even more than Parboil in his Frogbot Clan Arena project did.
For example, if you want to play a 4on4, but only have 6 players, you add a frogbot to each team.
I know frogbots are not perfect substitutes for human standins, but it might be a good way to develop some positional strategies in intra-clan 4on4s, etc.
