Quakeworld HOWTO forum opened!

I had this idea about adding a HOWTO to the QW.NU forum for such items that are frequently used and something that people might find useful. So here we are with the new HOWTO section that's free to be used by anyone!

People can write their own HOWTOs on different things that are not there and could prove useful. The format is pretty simple: you can either write your own HOWTO or then just link existing information page there and add few words.

The main focus is to get all the useful information from one place (in this case the forum) so that people don't have to search for them all over the net. The most useful HOWTOs will be stickied there so make your voice heard.

People can also discuss on the forum, suggesting of making HOWTOs or even make corrections to the existing ones. However these threads won't be stickied, only HOWTOs will be.

Everything can't be there. The idea behind this was to also link help pages and documentation (like QTV commands for example) to the single place where you can find it all.

Just check the threads that are already there to see what I mean, they are mostly examples at this point.

Wikis are a lot better for howtos. But guess the format doesnt matter thas much

You still didn't get it?

The forum is NOT meant to compete with qw wiki. You can make thread that LINKS to a qw wiki article. Or then you can write an article there, or do it on the wiki and then link to it on the forum.

The problem with QW stuff is this. The information about different things is scattered all over the net and you really can't find it easily at times. Why not to keep a collection of links or articles that point you to the right direction. This way project pages can be found, qw wiki becomes more known to people, certain guides are easily found and so on.

I also thinks this is a good complement to the wiki as people can ask for help with whatever issues they bump into.
