In this video I describe how the mental checklist should be a list of priorities of what you can accomplish that is most important that occupies your mind whilst you play. As it gets more complicated you can fine-tune it using the concept of opportunity cost.
As in QuakeWorld 4on4 we have already established that in getting the most frags we win, and to do this we need to hold control in the best way possible, we need to compile a list of priorities with this in mind.
The highest priority is almost always to make sure that RA is safe, because that is the foundation of our control. So this is the easiest part of the checklist to make when faced with a decision.
The aim of this checklist is to help us make good decisions and commit to them. The reason this is important is because, often I have found that when I don't know what I'm doing -exactly- I generally play much worse. This is because I become indecisive and that causes me to take damage where I shouldn't be, or I take bad positioning because of it and am less effective.
The aim is to always know what we should be trying to accomplish off of every spawn and in all scenarios, then for that knowledge to become instinctive as this is the state of mind where we perform the best.
