End is the final map from the original release of Quake 1, where you face the boss Shub-Niggurath. You kill her by entering the teleport and collapsing into her, causing a telefrag.
Shub-Niggurath is a fictional creature often mentioned by the writer H. P. Lovecraft. She is often associated with the phrase "The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young", also described as "The Lord of the Wood". Lovecraft explicitly defined Shub-Niggurath as a mother goddess, the "All-Mother".
Due to the smallness of the map, which consist of one large room with 4 nearby spawnpoints the map has become one of the most popular maps in Quakeworld with the DMM4 mode, but where you play without Lightning_Gun but instead play with Rocket Launcher only.
