End is the final map from the original release of Quake 1, where you face the boss Shub-Niggurath. You kill her by entering the teleport and collapsing into her, causing a telefrag.

Shub-Niggurath is a fictional creature often mentioned by the writer H. P. Lovecraft. She is often associated with the phrase "The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young", also described as "The Lord of the Wood". Lovecraft explicitly defined Shub-Niggurath as a mother goddess, the "All-Mother".

Due to the smallness of the map, which consist of one large room with 4 nearby spawnpoints the map has become one of the most popular maps in Quakeworld with the DMM4 mode, but where you play without Lightning Gun and instead with Rocket Launcher only.
