Quakeworld Eternal is a 4on4 event that takes place during May and June 2024.
Format
- 4on4 - cup based on one single map at a time. For example, the first event focuses on Schloss, after that dm2, dm3 and e1m2 follow. The team that gets most points (awarded after each event completes) wins the QW Eternal 2024 title.
- 4 games for every clan, a preliminary round may take place if there is more than 16 clans signed-up. The winners of the first round go to Playoffs A, losers go to playoffs B.
- The event may start with a preliminary round if there are more than 16 teams signed up, for example with 19 teams signed up, team seeded 14th is to play team seeded 19th in the preliminary round, etc. The winners of the preliminary round qualify to the main tournament.
- All games Best of 3, finals and 3rd place games Best of 5
- All games must be reported with screenshots and mvd demos.
- All games will be streamed by the most prominent QW streamer sebi
Sign up
Your clan signs up by messaging airmanthe or hooraytio on discord. Signups close May 12th.
Signed up clans:
Fraggers United, GoodFellas, GoodFellas 2, Slackers, Koff, Polonez, ToT, 3B, Axemen, Demolition Crew, TSQ, Hell Xpress, Rebellion of Thunder
Rules
- No fake rule: To make the stats valid and accountable for the Śniegowy bot, you MUST NOT change team or your ingame nickname you were registered with during the tournament! That is very important for the bot to work properly.
- Cup: Clans will be seeded and placed in a playoff tree, all based on secret votes by all captains. If there is a tie in points, the admins will decide. If there are more clans than 16 to participate, a preliminary round among bottom seeded clans will be played. All clans will play 4 matches. There are no divisions, all clans are welcome to play, however, if a div3 clan is to play a div1 clan, they can "throw the towel" and give WO. This can be done only once in the whole event. Clan division assumptions are taken from the last EQL cup.
- Match procedure: All games are BO3, excluding finals and third place game that are BO5.
- Maps: SCHLOSS (May 2024), e1m2 (September 2024), DM2 (October 2024), dm3 (November 2024).
- Server settings: Standard settings set by command /4on4. A "QW ETERNAL" tag is highly recommended for ease of pausing the game. Each team can pause the game maximum 3 times per game (not per map!)
- KTX version: All games must be played with the KTX version installed NOT OLDER than 1.41. Otherwise, the demo and stats will not be parsed correctly. To check it, type /serverinfo in the console and look for "ktxver" in the response.
- Reporting: Report the game with screenshots and mvd demos in #reports-games on QWEternal discord
- Clans and players: State your lineup when signing up. A player can no longer play in more than 1 clan as multiclanning is forbidden. Faking and changing the nickname is also forbidden for the sake of the Śniegowy bot - you must play under the same name you are listed during signups.
- Points allocation: points will be allocated before the next cup begins. Here's the point allocation system for a knockout tournament with classification matches:
Champion: 32 points Runner-up: 28 points 3rd place: 24 points 4th place: 20 points 5th place: 18 points 6th place: 16 points 7th place: 14 points 8th place: 12 points 9th place: 10 points 10th place: 8 points 11th place: 6 points 12th place: 5 points 13th place: 4 points 14th place: 3 points 15th place: 2 points 16th place: 1 point
Summary of points added up from all cups will determine the Eternal Champions.
Ping
- The primary driver for server selection is to find a server where the teams have similar average pings (+/- 2ms) and to minimize that average.
- The pings should be the most even for the two teams and measures like cl_delay_packet or proxy rerouting to balance pings should be employed. A team with a higher average ping than their opponent on a given server may request the opponent to do this (or change server to somewhere with lower average ping).
- Matches must be played on EU servers.
- Antilag 2 is the default option. However, if a team requests antilag 1, the other team should comply. To check the currect antilag version, type /serverinfo when on a server. To change antilag, type /antilag in the console.
- Servers that are providing significant packetloss that cannot be avoided by proxy rerouting should generally be avoided unless both teams agree to play there.
- If players still can't agree on a server, please contact admins about it. Admin decision is final and refusal to play on a server designated by neutral admins will be considered a WalkOver loss.
