Report
Since the Netherlands and Russia aren't exactly close to one another I figured this game would involve some high pings and server searching. With the Russians being done with their warmup prac just after gametime already we eventually started an hour late. We ended up playing on Ex3mE, mainly thanks to [tVS]blAze who setup a qizmo for ass/delitel <3 so the pings were pretty low!
Starting with our choice dm3, even though we got rl and pent after 30 seconds there were no rls in the game and then B1aze who got the first lg secured red. Murdoc was the first to get an rl and live, he secured red three minutes in game. Second pent went to XN but Murdoc managed to keep red safe with quad. Even though they took over red after 9 minutes we managed to flood them out just before pent, reppie with rl, got red and took the third pent. What followed was 5 minutes of solid control, we all forgot about the last pent though and the russians got it. They couldn't do much damage with it though because they had no weapons and we played it out pretty relaxed.
Next up was cmt3, I noticed they won it against tvs earlier in the week so it was obvious they were good there. We got rl, quad and ring while they had pent and lg. The weapons died quick and reppie with q managed to get the second rl, leaving pent with nothing and securing red moments later which we held safe for the first ten minutes. Picked up second and third pent but by the time third pent ran out all our rl's were dead and ra was lost. In those 10 minutes we only build a 40 frag lead because they kept getting weapons and put pressure on us. Russia had control for the next five minutes but I managed to steal the last pent while they had a 15 frag lead, we got ra control again, but it only lasted for a few minutes and wasn't long enough to close the gap so they ended up winning with about 30 frags.
With two maps down there we were both to pick one again, we chose e1m2 while they went for dm2. Played ours first, they got rl, quad and secured ya. After just two minutes we flooded them out and Reppie got 3rd quad with rl to make the control switch complete. A few minutes later we flooded XN (who was camping MH) down, I got the pack and thus we got 2 rls at ya-gl side. This gave us a solid control which we held until there were just a bit more than 5 minutes left. During this time they mostly had mega safe and Skillah was mainly running around with sg, stealing rls. The 90 frag lead we had was enough to give us the victory.
Obviously the fourth map was their pick, dm2. While Murdoc got low Gor got high-rl and killed our sg-quad. Murdoc stayed alive, rj'ed to tele-exit and killed Gor as he came out of it. Then he got 2nd quad while I secured tele. They got quite some rl's in those first few minutes and we didn't manage to lock it down just yet. We did have most rls and got the quads in this period though and with 5 minutes left they launched their attack, with conferred efforts we came out on top and ended up with 2 rls (1 with quad) against none for them. What followed was a rather one sided game even though they constantly put us under pressure they never managed to gain serious control. Every time we got ra-mh safe tele was lost and the other way around. Order was usually restored quickly though and always managed to get tele safe in the end which was the key to the large margin we won by.
Despite the rough start it were good games! -Purity
