Beyond Reality Hack

Beyond Reality Hack was a LAN held in Boden, in the north of Sweden, back when QW was the household game. It gathered the best gamers from Boden and participants from neighbouring municipalities in the county of Norrbotten.

The LAN took place at Bodentravet, a famous horse racing facility, that regularly hosts big league horse racing.

The amount of participants was probably around a hundred and a FFA competition was held, where players advanced through two group stages. The winners of the final two groups faced off in a duel.

carapace was to play nightman in the grand finals. The latter has to leave before the grand finals and picked a replacement, Wannabe.

The game was played as a GO2 and the map pool was all id maps. Wannabe picked and won dm4. Carapace picked and won e3m7. The game thus ended 1-1 in maps and was settled by the frag difference. Wannabe won by a fairly large frag margin.

Nightman was a fairly known player nationally at the time, while carapace was 12 years old. Had nightman played the grand finals, carapace agrees that nightman would have won, probably with some margin.
