The Russian Quakeworld Scene has been very active over the past year, with many new players joining up to boost the numbers playing the great game.
The showcase tournament for the scene - the
Russian QuakeWorld League has been ongoing over the past few months with a high level activity and participation.
In the past number of weeks the 11th season of the league came to an end with the grand final taking place on the 17th December between
doom and
xpr.

Doom had a bye in to the second round of the winners bracket after which he went on to beat the following:
svyat Admiral SS disconnect He then faced
xpr in the playoff for the final defeating him 3-1 in Round 6 knocking him into the last stages of the losers bracket.

doom in Round 6 of the winners bracket
xprthen faced
huyase in Round 9 of the Losers bracket.
Huyase was unlucky to go down after bravely fighting though nine difficult rounds of the LB.
The rematch was now set between
doom and
xprThe first map was xpr's best map and he gave doom a right scare in a fairly comprehensive beating on Aerowalk.

DM4 and DM2 were close and exciting. The games were so close and could have gone either way however Doom was always able to just stay that little bit ahead to go into a 2-1 lead.

And then the decider. At 2-1 down xpr needed to win this. This was agonizingly close with doom holding his nerve to win by just two frags and to take the title by 3 maps to one.
