Allans Vittnen

From QWiki

Allans Vittnen was a Swedish clan founded in 1997 by Dcoy and Ghost. Originally an off-line clan whose members mostly busied themselves facing eachother in fierce games of mostly Rocket Arena and Navy Seals, Allans Vittnen saw some activity as a QuakeWorld 4on4 clan in division 5 of EQL 6 in the mid 2000s.

History

Allans Vittnen was formed by Dcoy and Ghost in 1997. In the 90s the clan consisted of a loosely-knit network of real-life friends attending the same school in the South Swedish countryside. All members were on dial-up connections, but few if any could stomach playing online with pings upwards of 300 ms, even after the release of QuakeWorld. Instead, core members would gather in the clan hide-out, Måggelåddan, on weekends to play NetQuake and later QuakeWorld on LAN. The NetQuake era mostly revolved around the modifications Rocket Arena and Navy Seals. The tardy transition to QuakeWorld (probably in 1998) would shift focus to the commonplace FFA, 1on1 and 2on2 on a local QWSV server running Kombat Teams. 4on4 remained an exotic game mode as the clan LANs infrequently gathered eight people. The end of the 90s saw the dissolution of the original Allans Vittnen as its members were coming of age and pursuing other interests.

In 2006 original Allans Vittnen members ncr, xtr and Humza took up QW again. They formed a team under the Allans Vittnen name, recruiting a number of new players, notably Ekkz-rejj (ekz), Kryddturken, Bjorta (bjo) and Sajko. With this team Allans Vittnen was fairly active for a couple of years. The clan played in EQL 6 and placed second in division 5 before disbanding again.
