History

Oldschool Quake clan from Ekaterinburg (Sverdlovsk)

It all started like this: one day, in the cold winter time... more precisely - in February 1998, when the trees were still tall and the water was much wetter than now, the first city championship in the first quake was supposed to take place in our glorious city, but I didn't know about it. At that time, I was enthusiastically programming in Pascal and didn't recognize any games, accordingly - I had never played anything online. =) And so - a friend of mine, who later took the nickname HUNTER, with whom I barely knew - we sat together in online classes in the evenings, comes up to me at the university and asks - do you play quake? I honestly admitted that I had beaten it, the poor thing, twice, on the keyboard and with godmode + impulse 9. This skill seemed quite sufficient to him and we went. In a word - that's how I got hooked on all these trinkets - despite the fact that we both lost, somehow a wild desire to play was born by itself, which we did almost all day long in the university Internet classes, from where we were then cruelly kicked out for this. =)

That's how, little by little, we gained experience and forgot about studying, or, to put it simply, we suffered from bullshit. =) Soon, an opportunity arose to play for free in the Fifth Dimension club, thanks to Mr.Fork, who worked there as an admin. Then, in the Fifth Dimension, the UB clan was formed - Ural Beavers, which included the current NKWD-Frank, NKWD-Kest and b100-Fork. We were jealous, but joining was a bummer, so we went another way - we created our own clan, by inventing a name - Black Sotnya (Hunter came up with the name, I shortened it). We came up with it, and, as Beavis and Butthead said - "now we're a gang". =) By the way - the official birthday of the clan is somewhere in the middle of April 1998.

There was no talk of teamplay in the city at that time - no one was interested in it, everyone just played deathmatch and occasionally duels, so the clan consisted of two people and that was enough. And so time went on - games on the Internet, trips to clubs - in the summer we started hanging out in the now defunct Intellect club, until one day I watched a demo of two-on-two teamplay, where Death Row played against [9] on dm3... I liked it so much that I was eager to play the same way. =) Hunter watched and wanted to too, as a result of which one fine day we suggested playing two on two in Intellect to the ICI clan and lost. =) Then the fun time of teamplay propaganda began in Yekaterinburg - the two of us played with almost all the clans in the city. It must be said that only ICI players were really hooked by this idea, while the rest, despite the enthusiastic reviews, gradually gave up on it.

At the same time, new members appeared in the clan - Reiko (now SataN), CrusheR, Mr.Fork. And closer to winter we started playing 3 on 3 (more players were impossible - there was no club with eight computers in the city). And at the end of February 1999, we had a page on the Internet, on which you are reading all this now. =)
